Ok, I’ve resigned myself to it. It grows and develops incredibly fast and I can absolutely do nothing to slow it down. My baby has lost his “newborn” status and is now a normal “baby” baby.
Our little “big” Oliver five months old.
Birth weight 3340 grams -> 8100 grams.
Birth size 51 cm -> 67cm.
Oliver is relatively big for his age and especially difficult. For this, however, one must say that all the men of our two families are large. Alex his brother is 1.95 meters, my brother is 1.90 meters and our fathers are also not small. Oliver is probably a big man.Yet his weight worried us a bit. We are at 97% percentiles. The pediatrician assured us, however, that this is not a first sign for later overweight, but our child simply a few fat reserves for the crawling time. Oliver is a very active baby. He has always been. He struggles all day with his feet and I’m sure, as soon as he has found out how to move, there is no more stop. It is our small, charming whirlwind.
Oliver is also a very communicative baby. I have reported in the last months of our conversations. Newly to his usual UIII, AHHH, AKKKUUUU and OHHHH came bright squeaking screams. It’s sooo cute. I’ve tried a few times to film this, but as always, it does not make it in these moments. What he has learned unfortunately is grumbling.He made this last month, but now he has perfected it…I’m actually glad that our baby does not cry in the first place, but rather announces his malaise with complaints, so that we can still have a good time. But this bitching can also make you crazy.
Oliver is our little observer. He looks at EVERYTHING. What is new is that he is watching us at dinner. If I bite in his presence in a piece of bread, this will not be unnoticed. Even if I drink a sip, he would like to take the glass out of my hands.
He is madly interested in everything and everyone. I keep my cell phone over him to make a nice picture, he wants to grab directly afterwards, he would like to examine it closely. His motor skills have made a terrific advance last month. He can now take almost everything in his hand. He tries to put it into his mouth then, it does not always succeed. He can not really play with his rattles yet. He usually drops them after a few minutes or seconds. Consciously, unconsciously, I do not know. He’s training hard! I’m sure next month he’ll get the hang of it!
This month he liked to be on his stomach. That was not always so. Just in the third month he began to cry after a short time because he could not support himself properly. He then rowed wildly with his arms and legs and rocked back and forth. I think it would not be fun. Now this position belongs to his favorites, he is strong enough to support himself and keep his head. Mom wanted to make it as comfortable as possible for him, so I usually put it on his crawling floor. Recently, we found out he’d rather be on the floor! First I thought this was unusual, but now I’ve seen that he has more grip there. Sometimes I pull him extra his socks and lo and behold, he starts unconsciously turning his own axis. Truly amazing! Sometimes he turns from the prone position to his back, his head comes up on the floor and he cries occasionally. I often put blankets to the right and left around him. Oliver feels so secure and comfortable on his stomach that he starts to grab his toys from this position. So he is busy for a long time. And when he gets tired and can not hold his head, he puts it on his arm and sucks on his sweater! Yes indeed … he almost eats himself. Its top is actually always moist.Not only because he sucks on it, but also because he is unbelievable. This is not new, he has been doing it since the beginning of the fourth month. I change it every day. We are now almost daily in his mouth and wait for the first tooth.
Sugar, sugar, sugar-sweet. We are so incredibly proud of our little whirlwind!
Oliver grins and laughs at everyone. He particularly reacts to me. Even if he’s in a bad mood, tired, and Papa can not make him right, he laughs as soon as I get into his field of vision. He interrupts his new-learned squelching and sneezes. I then get butterflies directly in the belly and must hug him immediately. Which would be the next topic.Oliver is unfortunately no cuddly baby. I like to push him to me, as close as possible to me, but Oliver would rather see something and complains after a short time. The few minutes I still treat myself several times a day.
Our little musician is not only fond of singing Papa’s guitar , but he likes to listen to himself and like to imitate him. But see for yourself.
His appetite can not be stopped. I am quiet Oliver as needed. Usually this looks like this:
7:45 am breastfeeding, both breasts
09:30 am breastfeeding, one breast (Olli sleeps for 30 – 50 minutes)
11:00 am breastfeeding, (optional)
12:00 am breastfeeding, both breasts (lunch, 2- 3 hours)
15:30 hours breastfeeding, both breasts
17:30 clock breastfeeding, both breasts
7:30 pm breastfeeding, both breasts (Oliver is sleeping)
I sleep between six and seven times a day.
Breastfeeding does not always happen harmoniously with us. Previously, Olli stopped drinking, with earlier I mean roughly the first 10 weeks. From then on he moved more, sometimes rowed with his arms and scratched or tweaked me while he was drinking.He also docks frequently, complains and docks again. HM. I do not know why he is doing this or what bothers him. I have tried it with different still positions, but no improvement achieved. We noticed that he usually does this only in the afternoon.Perhaps fatigue plays a role.
A few days ago, Oliver had bitten me for the first time. Ouch. I scared myself and Oliver as well. My husband almost laughed beside us.
Unfortunately Oliver did this again right after the incident! He looked at me, surprised and curious. It seemed like a test. “Did Mama scream because I’ve bitten? I’ll try it out again”.
We asked how we should react in such a situation and why Oliver suddenly bites. One reason could be that Oliver bites because his teeth break through and this reduces the pain in the jaw at short notice. We now give him a cold carrot if necessary, on which he may chew. He still has trouble leading them to his mouth. We’ll get him a cool teething ring.
This is really a strange feeling when you are already a bit afraid of the child and looking at him quite tense. When I feel he is biting me, I quickly put my little finger in the corner of my mouth and stop breastfeeding for a short time. Still, he did it twice last night. I took in from the chest, made eye contact and clearly said “NO”.
I hope he’ll leave it soon.
Oliver sleeps 2 times a day and then the night through. Usually he sleeps in the morning for about 30 – 50 minutes. Noon between 2 and 3 hours and then at night from 7:30 pm – 7:30 am. In the three month post I have to go to bed more accurately.This has not really changed, except the Oliver has now a small nightlight for a few days.
Music. When Alex plays guitar, Oliver looks at him enthusiastically. Even if he was just in a bad mood, as soon as he hears music he will forget everything. Alex has to teach me the guitar now! Tummy time. He hated it before, now he loves it and I put it on his stomach several times a day. His reflection. He laughs, squeals, and rejoices. I like to sit with him in front of the mirror. It is so beautiful to watch as he flirts with himself.Brabbeln and squeak . The half day. Glorious. To bathe. Not only he loves it, but Mom and Dad love it! For a time we bathed him in his own little tub. Oliver stomps but so violently, that afterwards always the whole bath is wet. It is easier when mum or dad bathe with him in the large tub. Oliver has a lot of fun. He radiates so much satisfaction that we now go swimming more often than he should.
His stable. For a long time he was very happy and satisfied in his running stable, looked at his mobile and had fun. Now he does not like it any more. The mobile has become too boring, it depends too high to be able to grab. He has a lot of toys in the stable, but he is already frustrated with the reinstallation and wants to get out again. We now use it exclusively for Oliver’s morning sleep. If I put it on the side and with a pillow something built in, he sleeps very well.
My heart is so full. Full of love. We are so happy to be able to call this young man our child. He has made us a family and now I can say family is the most beautiful and most important in the world.
