The short domestic flight to their first accommodation, Ngaga Camp, is an adventure in itself. You will be taken inland in a small plane, where you cannot get there so quickly by car.

This is an example of one of our tours and should serve as a source of inspiration. Of course, the itinerary can be adjusted and we would be happy to work out a tour tailored to your interests and budget.

Travel planning: This round trip can be easily combined with the Central African Republic or a beach extension on Sao Tome & Principe .

Tip: If time and budget allow, spend an extra day or two in Brazzaville to explore the French colonial style of one of Africa’s vibrant cities.

Day 1: Arrival in Brazzaville
Arrival by international flight to the Maya-Maya Airport in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. A guide will meet you at the airport and give you full support. You will take the Odzala charter flight which departs from Brazzaville every Monday and lands on the Mboko runway in Odzala Kokoua National Park. This is followed by a transfer to Ngaga Camp.

2nd-5th Day: Ngaga Camp
The Ngaga Camp is located in the Ndzehi Forest on the western border of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. It is right next to the Gorilla Research Center, which is pioneering the Western Lowland Gorilla. Guests can have dinner with the team and leading researchers and learn more about their work in Odzala Kokoua National Park. This national park has the highest density of western lowland gorillas. Explore the Ndzehi forest on a well-developed network of trails – a completely different experience than the swampy terrain of Lango.

Transfer through Mbomo to learn more about the sustainable forest lifestyle and how people make the most of nature in such a remote location.

6-7 Day: Mboko Camp
The Mboko Camp is located in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. This is the base and the largest of 3 Odzala Discovery Camps. It is located on the Likeni River, which leads into a network of waterways with the surrounding savannah to be explored. River safaris in aluminum boats or on kayaks are great ways to explore the wilderness and find unique species of animals in their remote habitats.

Getting away from Mboko Camp is an adventure in itself – a guided morning kayak safari on the Lekoli River followed by a walk upstream to Lango Bai.

8-10 Day: Lango Camp
Lango Camp is located in the southern part of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park and offers easy access to a variety of habitats. Most activities focus on the Lango Bai and swamps while walking or wading. Some driving may be required to get to locations further afield. Here you can continue on foot in search of various primates, birds, forest elephants, bongos and forest buffalo. The mineral-rich Lango Bai attracts a wide variety of birds and mammals, which are easy to see from the open deck.

Coming back to Mboko from Lango Camp is equally fun. A game drive followed by an elevated wooden path that goes through the swamp to Mboko.

10-11 Day: Mboko Camp
Transfer by Odzala charter flight to Brazzaville. You will then go on your international flight home.

Accommodation
Ngaga Camp
The Ngaga Camp is located in the Ndzehi Forest on the western border of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. From here you have the opportunity to experience the western lowland gorillas that live here up close. The Ngaga Camp is located in a dense forest area and consists of 6 tents, which were erected high above the ground according to traditional guidelines. Only materials from the immediate vicinity were used, such as bamboo, hardwood and raffia palm mats. A maximum of 12 guests will find a unique overnight stay here.

Lango Camp
The camp is located in a savannah area of ​​the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. The unique location makes the camp an ideal starting point for wildlife viewing. The construction of the camp is traditional and only materials found in the area were used here. The 6 chalets are built 3-4 m above the ground and offer a maximum of 12 guests overnight accommodation of a special kind.

Mboko Camp
The Mboko Camp is located in the middle of a savannah-like plain surrounded by dense forest and offers its guests day and night hikes in the pristine nature as well as activities on the Lekoli River, such as rides in a speedboat or kayak. Mboko is the newest of the three Odzala Discovery Camps and has a total of 12 rooms, two of which are spacious family rooms.
